Deir-e Gachin Caravanserai
Picture ID: 30541 - Order
Deir-e Gachin caravanserai is one of the oldest caravansaries of Iran located 80 km northeast of Qom, also known as mother of all Iranian caravansaries. This building is located on the old way of Qom to Varamin.
Usually, I do not shoot the architecture subjects. But this mansion drew my attention. I went to the area to shooting of desert on an autumn day. I did a short visit to the caravanserai. And I shot some frames. The sun set on the roof of the caravanserai had a spectacular view. And deliberately attracted attention. The brilliant light, and the golden sun had created an interesting picture on the roof domes. So I quickly prepared my camera on my tripod. And I waited for the sun to be in a better place.
I put a dome at a very close distance from the camera. And in order to have a clear picture of it, I used Schneider Super Angulon 47XL lens. I focused the lens in the hyperfocal distance. Although the dome was located very close to the camera, but the picture is perfectly focused. I tried to slightly reduce the amount of exposure, to avoid revealing details of other areas of the building.
For this photo, I used my Panoral 45 handy camera and Schneider Super Angulon 47/5.6 XL lens. I kept the IIIC Schneider center filter in front of the lens. The image recorded, with aperture 22 and shutter speed 1/8 seconds on Kodak E100VS 4x5in slide film.
