Panoral 57, 5x7in tilt-shift technical camera

Panoral 57 technical camera structure

After I gained experience from making Panoral 45 camera, I decided to make a camera with a larger format. Of course, this new camera should also have Panoral 45 camera capabilities. This means that, in addition to having large frame size, it must have the ability to use other formats as well as a variety of digital backs. Another thing that I had in mind, such as Panoral 45, was shooting conditions more easily than a large-format camera. Such that be maintained, to some extent, functionality large–format camera.

Alvandi Panoral 57 Ver. II camera, is an new version Panoral 57 technical large format camera. All parts are made of Aluminum alloy 6061 T6 by CNC machine. All aluminum parts are coated by black anodized and all steel parts coated by copper-nickel-chromium. Read more

Panoral 57 is made, based on a technical large format camera with 5x7inch frame (13x18 cm). The camera in addition to having the ability to Shift, in both vertical and horizontal directions (lateral shift), it also has the ability Tilt. This camera, such as Panoral 45 camera, is simple enough to be used for most shooting situations. The big advantage of this camera is the modularity and usability of the Panoral 45 and Panoral 617 camera lenses.

Lens Part

Part of the camera, which contains large format lens, focus mount, intermediate piece cone and plate holder is called lens part. Three lens, 90, 150, 210, which is related to Panoral 45 and Panoral 617 cameras, can be used in this camera. Of course, these lenses, according to the image circle diameter, is used in this camera.

The diameter of the 5x7in format, equal to 208.7 mm and a diameter of 13x18cm format, is equal to 210.1 mm. Thus, according to the image circle diameter lens, only three lenses 90, 150, 210 is used for this camera.

Image circle diameter of Schneider Super Angulon 90/5.6 at f/22 equal to 235 mm, Schneider Symmar-S 150/5.6 at f/22 equal to 210 mm and Schneider Symmar-S 210/5.6 at f/22 is equal to 294 mm.

All these lenses are equipped with the focus ring, a piece specially cone interface and plate holder for themselves. Focus ring for each lens, is designed specifically. All lenses Panoral 45 and Panoral 617 camera, can be used to Panoral 57 camera. Therefore, the focus ring does not need to be calibrated. But it should be noted image circle of lens for use this camera.

Main Body

The main part of the camera is body, which has the ability to connect to other categories. At the front of the body is connected Shift-Tilt adapter, which has the ability to connect in a different direction up, down, left and right. In the rear section of the body, connected back part. It also has the ability to connect, vertically and horizontally.

Panoral 57 Tilt-Shift Adapter

In a new design, I made Tilt-Shift adapter for this camera. This part has the capability to tilt and shift simultaneously. Due to the function of this camera for landscape photography, I designed a limited amount of Tilt-Shift.

I designed Tilt amount equal to +8 degrees, this amount is quite sufficient for 210 mm lens. Also for Shift, maximum ±15 mm is considered.

Tilt-Shift adapter can be installed horizontally or vertically relative to the main body. Thus, will exist the vertical shift or horizontal shift (lateral shift). Also, forward tilt is possible in all directions, up-down, left-right, the amount of +8 degrees. That's according to subject type, can be changed position of the connection Tilt-Shift adapter to the main body.

Camera Back Part

Back part has three parts: ground glass frame, ground glass holder and folding focusing hood.

Folding focusing hood is attached to ground glass frame. ground glass frame is the full frame size 13x18cm (5x7in) and are equipped with fresnel lens. Fresnel lens helps to be clear the edges of the image as the center.

ground glass holder for selecting a frame, can be mounted vertically or horizontally to the camera body. To this section, ground glass frame is mounted. Also ground glass frame can be removed from the junction, and instead be connected 6x12 or 6x17 roll film back and or 4x5in adapter or variety digital back.
